Lead Pharmacist for Perioperative Medicine and Theatres for University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, Associate Lecturer Liverpool John Moores University. 

Tara works as the Lead Pharmacist for Perioperative Medicine and Theatres for the University of Liverpool Group. Tara began her journey as a dedicated perioperative medicine pharmacist in 2016 at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals, focusing on medicines optimisation in the perioperative period and prehabilitation of complex patients, and reduction of on the day cancellations.


Tara has specialist interests in anticoagulation and venous thromboembolism prevention in the perioperative period, alongside anaemia optimisation, conscious sedation and the reduction of pharmaceutical restraint in Neurodivergent or SEND patients.


Tara is a keen educator and associate lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, where she delivers the postgraduate clinical pharmacist’s Medicines in Surgery study day.


Alongside expanding her pharmacy knowledge, Tara holds accreditation with Resus Council UK for BLS, ILS and ALS, alongside a postgraduate certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice.
