Prof Robert Storey

Robert Storey joined the University of Sheffield in 2002 and is currently Professor of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Unit as well as Theme Lead for Cardiovascular Disease in the NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre. In addition, he is Academic Director and honorary Consultant Cardiologist for the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Directorate, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has special interests in atherothrombosis, cardiovascular pharmacology, coronary intervention and clinical trials in cardiovascular disease.

Professor Storey received his BSc in biochemistry in 1985 (University of York, UK) and his medical degree (BM) in 1989 (University of Southampton). He trained in the fields of cardiology and internal medicine in Nottingham, completing specialist training and obtaining a postgraduate degree in research (DM) in 2001. He has served as a member of the executive and steering committees of numerous international studies and published >400 peer-reviewed original journal articles, spanning both preclinical and clinical research fields. He was Chair of the Working Group on Thrombosis of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 2012-2014. He has been a Task Force member for ESC guidelines on chronic coronary syndromes (2019), non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndromes (2011 and 2015) and dyslipidaemias (2011).
