Preoperative Assessment Foundation Courses arrive in Glasgow for 2026!

We’re heading to Glasgow in 2026.
To make our courses even more accessible across the UK, we are adding a brand-new Scottish venue in the heart of Glasgow city centre.
Who's it for?
Band 5–6 nurses in POA (NHS or independent) and allied professionals (e.g., pharmacists, ODPs).
Who's teaches it?
Preoperative Association Education Faculty—an inter-professional team of national experts (nurses, anaesthetists, pharmacists).
Format
Three days of face-to-face, small-group teaching with cases and problem-solving to consolidate Foundation content.
What you'll cover
- Evidence-based practice & current guidelines
- Core POA nursing skills & competencies
- History taking; recognising anaesthetic issues
- Medication management (incl. herbal)
- Lifestyle, prehabilitation, obesity & OSA
- Cardiac & respiratory conditions
- Common comorbidities: diabetes, anaemia, hypertension
- Airway assessment & chest auscultation
- Blood results & ECG interpretation (incl. abnormal findings)
- Identifying high-risk patients & referral pathways
- Pharmacy challenges
- Scenario-based interactive sessions
